In the year 1994, at the beginning of the 10th century from the Dedication of the Basilica, a vast program of investigative studies on the state of conservation and the reliability of the structural complex of the Basilica was formalized, entrusted to Professors Mola and Vitaliani. The program included geometric surveys and experimental tests aimed at characterizing materials, the consistency of masonry fabrics, and investigating the level of stresses in the load-bearing walls. The data collected allowed for the development of a sophisticated finite element model of the Basilica, yielding numerical results that led to a thorough assessment of the complex's consistency and the formulation of guidelines for the restoration and recovery of areas with insufficient capacity.
